Its good to be back

Well its autumn now; the summer has well and truly done a runner... But we are all back in North Wales and all ready to make some noise once again. Congratulations to Neil and Sally on the birth of Little Kurt (I told him condoms don't work - would he listen?).

So we're back on it, new place to practice, and plenty of gigs lined up. So keep in touch everyone and keep an eye out in your local sports and social club for forthcoming events. Ha. Or look in gigs...

Nice one dudes... see you soon...

Babylon All Change

All ChangeWell, come the summer Babylon Leaf is all change once again: Hanny is off to Tenerife with Sammy for at least three months, with the possibility of staying for good. Hanny has always been pissed off living in this country, so good on him. The band's procrastination through-out 2004 couldn't have helped either... We all wish him and Sammy the best of luck.

The Leaf are going to continue. We're still jamming and practicing, with the intention of cramming in as many gigs as possible before Hanny goes as well as recording a new CD containing four or five of our new tracks (well, new since the last CD anyway).

More news soon.

2004: a re-cap, and more bad news

ApologiesSo, all the pages for 2004 have been torn from my calendar and thrown into the waste-paper basket of time. So that was 2004, and what have we done?

Babylon Leaf had a bit of a non-year, in terms of gigs, practices, new equipment... well, pretty much everything. We basically started as we went on: after a great party for Xmas 2003, we decided to take a break. That month-long sabattical dragged into January, turned into two months, then three. I started full-time at HMV in Chester in February and began juggling that with work for Leafish, and so time for the band became more scare for me. Neil and Sally brought new life into the world in the summer, meaning his time was probably being spent washing nappies and looking for the lost dummy underneath the sofa.

Happy new year

Happy New Year everyone, and hope you all had a good Xmas. We didn't get to play any gigs, but we managed to have a whopping bash for Xmas/New Year/Hanny's birthday. Scott and Nath provided the tunes, and the festive merriment ensued into the wee hours...

I've been fiddling with the site again:

  • the image galleries are now proper galleries, in that now the other guys in the band can upload their own images, and not just muggins here;
  • the links section has been tidied up, and the other guys can also suggest/submit new links for this page;
  • there's a random image thing over on the right --->;
  • there's some new pics up in the big banner up there ^^^;
  • I've sorted out some stuff with titles etc. Just need that font now, Tom?
  • There's a weekly newsletter which you can sign up for, which will provide all the latest news and gigs straight to your inbox;
  • There's a new contacts page;
  • the site is a bit wider. Hoorah.

Leader Live review

Attached is a large resolution version of the Leader Live review featured in the Evening Leader in November 2003.

Autumn Road pics

Yes, yes. It was ages ago, but Dave recently found some pics of us lot recording the Slow Down demo CD at Nino's Autumn Road studios in 2003.

Check em out.

PS You'll all be glad to hear Rich can, um, hear again. Hurrah!

Xmas party cancelled

Just to emphasise what I explained in the post below the Xmas Party at the Cross Keys has been cancelled. Once more, apologies to all and we hope you have the patience to bear with us until the new year.

A cack end to a cack year

Man, someone has definitely put some kind of crazy voodoo curse on the band: getting back on track at the arse-end of 2004 has been tough, cos some prankster god keeps throwing things in the way...

The latest bad news is Rich avec bursto ear-drum following a pair of drunken f**kwits attempting to mug and beat the crap out of him and a mate in Chester last weekend. Not nice, especially when that injury affects the music he plays and loves... He's having a hard time listening to the TV at the moment, so looks like gigs are off for the next few weeks at least until he finds out whats the next step for that all-important flap of flesh in his inner ear. Unfortunately, this includes the Xmas party, which has now been cancelled.

So, all together now, wish Rich a whopping Get Well Soon from all of us.

Take care all,

P

Gillespies cancelled

Apologies to everyone: we've had to cancel the gig at Gillespies in Connah's Quay tonight due to lack of a sound system. A second hand one we were after fell through, Maplins in Wrexham are a big bunch of lying bastards (telling us a PA bundle was in stock when it wasn't, trying to pass off two different speakers to get it sold and advertising peak output instead of RMS - so the thing was only half as powerful as we thought).

We have started shopping around at Dawsons and Back Alley in Chester, but the set-ups we liked would take a few days to come in from warehouses.

So, sorry to everyone who was planning on coming, and we'll get it sorted by the 17th December for our Christmas party.
