Um-ing and ah-ing

Still no news on any gigs for Christmas, I'm afraid: Dave is down in Cornwall for a couple of weeks so we've not had chance to get together for a bit.

The gig at The Talbot went down well, we provided last minute support for a rather loud rocking outfit from Manchester, 'Grand Volume'. Good night all in all, thanks got out to the venue and Neil from Central Station for sorting it all out. One things for sure, though, I don't fancy lugging our equipment round in the snow again!

Once again I've got to plug a couple of gigs coming up at Central Station in Wrexham: The Wildhearts are back on the 4th December and are always worth checking out, and FC/Kahuna are playing on the 10th - a live dance act that rocked my socks a couple of years back in Manchester.

Christmas Party?

We're looking at fixing up another Babylon Bash for Xmas, probably on Friday 17th or Saturday 18th of December at the Cross Keys function room.

There will be a few bands on, and a DJ to finish us all off. I'll post more info when I know more.

Update The party is happening in the function room above the Cross Keys in Buckley on Friday 17th December.

First gig in 10 months...

Well, bonfire night saw our first gig in ten months at the Cross Keys in Buckley, and what a wicked night. Thanks to everyone who came along!

First up, cheers to Geordie Matt and Mike McKnight for playing with us, both of em on top form. Also, cheers to Mal for opening up the function room and giving the babylon rabble somewhere to go. We're chuffed at the amount of people we got up there, and it was great to see some old faces and friends again.

Hope everyone enjoyed it, looking forward to Wine Vaults on Friday now! See you there, hopefully.

Project Ozma

A couple of mates, collaboratively known as 'Black House', will be performing as VJs at the upcoming Project Ozma/Synergy Project on the 19th November, at the SE ONE nightclub in London.

Check our the Project Ozma website for more information.

New site stuff

If you're reading this, you're seeing the all new babylon leaf site. Which looks the same. Well, if it ain't broke...?

Seriously, the site is running on the fantastic Drupal... but for those who don't care about such boring matters, the message page is back. There's a new calendar for events too... for when we get some.

There's a few niggles (e-mail us if you spot anything).

Cheers,
Leafish

All quiet on the North Western front

Tumbleweeds. Wind. Dust settling on drying paint. Babylon Leaf 2004. Anyone noticing any similarity?

Things are super quiet at the moment.. but not to worry: things should start picking back up in time for summer. Neil and Sally are due to bring a new life into the world in the next two weeks, so watch this space for news on that.

Oh, and don't miss Goldie Lookin' Chain at Wrexham Central Station on June 22nd. Loads of MP3s on that site above: you must check out 'Half Man Half Machine', 'Ambassador' and 'GLC Leisure Wear'.

back once again for my renegade master

As I write this I realise that there is probably no one actually around to view it due to the absence of our sitepage from the interweb for some considerable months.

Our viewers (if that is the right word) have dripped away to check out other things, broadened their horizons or narrowed their parameters. Anyway, as a salute to Paul I write in the hope that people will pour back to our screens to follow the wildly optimistic pursuits of the intrepid sextet that I am glad to be a part of.

Enjoy the site! Paul's done good, looks the same but i'm sure that even without a technical knowledge to quantify the difference I'm sure it runs smoother too.

Site revamp

OK, I know. It looks identical. But that was the idea. Honest. The site has been re-worked to use strict XHTML 1.1 (which is the new standard for web pages) rather than the somewhat hashed together HTML that was the older site. It also makes more use of CSS - the standard for styling sites.

For those of you who couldn't care less about that stuff: there's some more artwork courtesy of Tom (of Fervour Design fame...) and the message board is back. Plus there's some extra goodies on the tunes page!

Note that there may be some bugs/stuff that needs ironing out now the site is back online - if you experience any problems just e-mail me (babylons @ this domain). There's still a few bits and bobs on my to-do list, but I thought I'd get the site back up first. These minor tweaks will be added over the course of next week. Cheers!

new pics from phd1 gig

Hey - added some new pictures taken at the gig at PHD1 in Nottingham. Check em out.

Newsflash

Babylon Leaf, the self styled debonair North Wales band, have been arrested in connection with a bit of theivery on the night of a day in a week. The daring caper took place in a post office close to the deeside area when the alleged offence of a stolen pen from the lottery counter took place, police were called and an armed response team sent in.

The band appeared in Mold Crown Court at some point on sombre form with the exception of frontman Hanny who after the charges were brought pleaded innocent to not being guilty. The prosecution moved for the death penalty but the judge Lord Justice Aintnon in leaniant mood denied that course of events and sentenced them to 25 years of British Legions to commence immediatly both Friday and Saturday with a plug and play every second Wednesday.
