Tivoli Preparation

A couple of snaps pre-soundcheck last Friday at the Tivoli, Buckley. There's a couple more after the break and in the image galleries. Did anyone get any snaps of the bands playing?

Tri

Well I guess we can finally call it official now we have some glorious artwork courtesy of Tom (Fervour Design). All three tracks are now available to listen and download on various sites (see below) - let us know what you think here, on Facebook or via Twitter!

Arrival

It's here! Two master copies of the 3-track studio demo we recorded at Autumn Road Studio arrived yesterday.

"Babilon" master CD

It sounds massive and we're all really chuffed with it. We have a couple of technologicalities and legaleroos to sort out but rest assured the tunes will up here, for free, very very soon!

The El Niño Effect

Last week had us in the studio, seven years on, with Nino Errico once again at the helm at Autumn Road Studio. The Slow Down EP was pretty much a live recording - this time we were doing it "properly": separate tracks, overdubs, layers - the lot.

Discussions, voting and several lines of reasoning initially failed us but we managed to pick the three tunes to get down: Guidelines, F*ckbeast and Priest. Luckily it didn't resort to tossing a coin (or fighting). All three tunes are relatively new - some of you may have heard them at gigs this year.

After a slow start setting and warming up Boz nailed the first drum track after lunch (and a beer). The other two came swiftly afterwards, preceding an afternoon of recording bass, guitars, lead guitar and eventually vocals and percussion.

Props to all the band for knowing the tunes well enough to be able to pull em all to pieces and record separate tracks, sections and layers... 12 guitar tracks on Priest was it? And there was no cut n' pasting for Boz so 40,000 babylon points to him for getting them down from start to finish.

Thanks to Nino for his work, encouragement and feedback - the tunes will hopefully be here (and our Facebook and ReverbNation pages) very soon.

No guitar amplifiers were harmed during the production of this EP.

Set List preview

I was wondering if any of you lot were wondering where we've wandered off too. Were you? I wonder. Anyway, with Boz firmly in the drum seat, we're currently working on getting a full set of our own songs together (only three covers!?) and practising up for some gigging...

There's a few new tunes lurking about (some of you may of heard the recent demo we recorded at Mad Dog Studios) and the order isn't finalised, but the list currently looks something like this: Madam Majiva, Banquet, This is My Place, Betty Ford, Where is My Mind?, Just Give Me, LSF, Slow Down, Lonely, Kill the Robot, Priest, F*ckbeast, Open Ground.

There's also a couple of others flying around and the possible pillaging of some of Boz's more recent back catalogue... see you soon!

2010 Setlist

New year and a new drummer

Boz, drunkAs a lot of you probably know we've been practising and playing with Boz on drums. Boz used to be a key player in High Times along with our very own Rich before he joined us in 2003.

Since putting High Times on hold, Boz has worked at his own music and has amassed a fair few recordings of his ideas. We've been playing together since the tail end of 2008 and its all going well - we have a couple of new covers and some re-worked versions of our own songs. We've also been using Mad Dog Studios in Deeside to help us kick ourselves back into shape.

The Battle of the Bands gig at The Tivoli was a good laugh - we suffered with sound quality a bit (why were we the only band without a sound check?) and Neil breaking a string on the first song was bound to happen as soon as Sod realised we didn't have any spare guitars. Eh well, the tunes went down well and if it wasn't for the Babylon Crowd there would've been about 10 people there. Big thanks to all who came to support us - let's hope there's a next time!

...oh and a new website

Ish. I took the opportunity to update the website a bit. We're now running the latest version of Drupal 6, with a re-worked events calendar, events listing and galleries. I've also completely replaced the ageing theme with, well, a practically identical one built on a much better, cleaner framework called, um, Framework.

Let me know if there are any issues or if you have any suggestions to improve the site.

See you there?
