Latest gigs

Just an update on the latest gigs... and how they went.

PHD1, Nottingham - 15/11/2003
After a hefty amount of travelling and not much kip, we were all a little apprehensive about this one. The pub/bar/restaurant itself has just been done out and looked a little on the posh side... this was soon confirmed by the hefty price tag on the beer (2.80!). But hey, we were in a city, and do as city folk do. Except with out the poncing around in jeans and a suit jacket with a mobile phone strapped to your ear ;)

The gig itself was a bit crazy: some sound problems (aren't there always?) and an awkward sound check whilst people were still eating their king prawns... but I think it was OK. My pa described it as 'watching Liverpool play poorly, but still score three goals to win', which I thought was a reasonable description! We went down well, but we could have played better. Hopefully next time the apprehension and awkwardness will be gone and we'll play a belter.

Comedy moment of the night: Tom's tirade of accidents: "ART ON THE FLOOR", followed by ending the gig by stepping on a 4-way plug socket and darn nearly blowing everything up. Only just short of a full-on pyrotechnical display! At least Tom learnt not to touch live plugs... 240 volts up the arm is not the most pleasant of sensations!

Dunham Arms, Dunham - 21/11/2003
Back on form this weekend... plus we had the luxury of expert knob twiddling skills (hem hem) courtesy of Mr Mike Jones. Mike came along to loan equipment, provide sound assistance, advice and above all, to record the gig. A big 'cheers boss' has got to be sent out to Mike for all his input, time and whatnot so far.

The gig went down well, the giant speakers, decent monitor set up and expert touch finally allowing us not to stress about the sound and get on with it. We hope you all enjoy it, and hopefully there will be a CD recording of the gig knocking about some time in the near future!

See you all at Cross Keys on Friday, hopefully!
