babylon leaf

History

Early days

Babylon Leaf was formed in 2001 by three lads from Buckley who knew they were on to something after singing a few tunes together with an acoustic guitar at local pubs and talent competitions. Soon after Neil and Hanny parted company with Danny and met up with Dave and Paul who came from other local bands Sappy/Pud (now Kickin* Yoshi) and Bagpus. After one bizarre night of "decks, drums n rock n roll" it was time to up the tempo...

Next came Tom: after six smashed tambourines, one bloodied hand and some dosh to invest in some bongos & congas, the band had a percussionist. Rich (previously of High Times and Rise2) joined the guys at the end of 2002, completing the line-up and relieving Dave of bass duties in order to concentrate on drumming. Babylon Leaf became a fully kitted-out six-piece.

Slow Down

After playing together for three years in various guises, Babylon Leaf began work on new original material. They gigged at pubs and clubs around the UK and gained a decent-sized following. They also recorded and produced their first demo EP in January 2003 entitled 'Slow Down' - all completely self-financed.

Limbo

Following the amicable departure of Dave on drums, the band took some time out to concentrate on families, careers and semi-permanent trips to Tenerife, Battle and um, Wrexham. They still played together occasionally (usually acoustically), showed their faces at the odd plug n' play around North Wales... some new tunes were written...

Back from the dead

Boz used to play drums and sing in High Times (with Rich on bass) and was welcomed into the Babylon fold on drums at the tail end of 2008. The band began practicing new covers and original material and recorded a three-track EP, Tri, available for free on the Tunes page.

Audiobrrrroooooom

Neil moved on to pastures new at the end of 2010 - he's now working on a new project, Audiobloom. Hope the black leathers fit, dude!
